Caramelized apple bruschetta

serves 4

  • 4 green apples
  • 60 ml butter
  • 130 g (160 ml) yellow sugar
  • 4 ml fine cinnamon
  • 4 slices white bread −  use a ready-cut loaf, Portugese bread, ciabatta or whatever you prefer
  • 250 ml cream, slightly whipped

Core the apples. Quarter them skin and all. Halve each quarter. Put butter and sugar in a pot and melt while stirring. Add apple pieces and cinnamon and simmer, stirring now and again, until soft. Heat a griddle plan and fry bread until crisp on both sides. Spoon apples on top and serve with cream.
